History

KUD SREM

Folk Dance Group „Srem’’ was founded by group of young people in 1948., as Cultural Educational Group ,,Red Star”. At the beginning of 60s, group gets the name that has today, led by Slavka Jezdimirovic-Zelenika, as a key person in establishment of this group.

At a very beginning, group had only one section- drama club, but in the next period, a number of artistic programs were established: folklore section, photo-movie section, recitative and art section.

Group had experienced a huge expansion in 1975, when it starts performing on school events. Members were highly motivated, with so many ideas and drivers for success, regardless of the hard financial conditions. Members would often take a participation in work actions in order to collect the money for the group. However, number of members was constantly increasing, and that was a good foundation for improvement.
